My great photography

Meet your Photographer!

I am GARY VILLEROZ.

I love living in the moment and going to places I’ve never been before.  Hiking has got to be one of my favorite things to do.  Nothing beats being at the top of a mountain, not knowing how you ended up there in the first place.

I enjoy quality food.  Well, I love food in general!  I find that the smaller, privately owned restaurants tend to have the best meals and services.  Know a great restaurant?  Let’s talk! :)

I’m a stylistic wedding photographer.  I Capture the moments that matter the most while your wedding story unravels itself.

Despite tonight’s rain, it didn’t stop hundreds of friends and families from attending their loved one’s graduation. This was a night to celebrate to all of the sleepless nights, hundreds of cups of caffeine, and to all of those dreadful careplans that we have all endured. While i was sitting down and listening to Carol Harvey speak, it just hit me. Me and my classmates will be sitting on that stage in less than 6 months. What a scary feeling that is! One more semester to go! Congrats to the Fall Class of 2010!

As I’m taking pictures of all the graduates in the hall, i hear this loud scream. Everyone’s crowding around towards the commotion to see what was going on. I turn, and it’s Wes on his knees proposing to Lindsay! My photographer instincts kicked in and i ran over to capture this moment. As a photographer, you only have seconds to shoot this once in a lifetime moment before it’s gone in a flash.

I’m sure you can guess what Lindsay said? It was a YES! Congrats to you both! What a surprising ending to a night of Euphoria.

Graduates, leave a comment at the bottom of this post and tell me what your most memorable time or moment was during the nursing program.

Are you a calamari lover? How about wings? wait… how about BEER? Then this might be the place for you. With the revamped grand opening of Seven Restaurant & Lounge, once previously known as Citryst, this place is worth the look. They offer a diverse selection of beer and Asian fusion cuisine. Not to mention their happy hour is something worth noting. Wait a minute…did you say Restaurant & lounge? Yes, not only can you eat, but you can also watch your favorite team play on the huge flat screens that are on every wall. Also you can jam out on the karaoke machine or bob your head to the tasteful music they play all night long. So get a couple of friends, and check it out. You just might find yourself karaoking solo at the end of the night.

We had set a date for the maternity shoot on a Sunday when i knew it would be perfect weather (sunny, 85 degrees. Basically June weather). On the day me and Elvin were driving down the coast, there was a BIG problem! There was no SUN out. Not even a hint, or a break of light out. It was probably your worst scenario of overcast + mist you’d ever see at the beach. If you know anything about lighting and photography you know that overcast can make or break your photos. I thought we’d drive down to the location and check it out anyway, maybe it would clear up where we were shooting. Guess what? It was WORSE!! So here we are at the beach, with weather in the 60s and mist falling all over us. So i said, were here already! lets just go take a couple of shots now, and reschedule. So we did. After about 20 minutes, all of a sudden the SUN had broken through the clouds and we had awesome lighting! This relieved a lot of the stress of working with mother nature. We worked fast trying to make use of whatever sunlight was out there before it disappeared. And here are the results! Congrats to Amanda and David to their first baby, Ezekiel. Wish you guys the best!

Long Beach Photography | Leslie’s Graduation Shoot

May 25th, 2010

This isn’t your typical graduate… This is a woman who was bearing a child and delivered four weeks prior to graduating college! She even managed to pull off a 4.0 GPA this semester (Goodjob Les). I don’t know about you, but that’s insane/impressive! Leslie will be graduating tomorrow with a Bachelors in Healthcare Administration. Congrats [...]

Today we had GDO (Guys Day Out). That’s right! We left the ladies at home. :) Anyway, me and the guys went to one of my favorite restaurants, La Creperie! It was the guys first time going here and they were skeptical about having crepes that wasn’t some kind of dessert. They were down to try it anyway…something new from weekly rotations of food we eat. Why’s this one of my favorite restaurants?…they serve savory crepes filled with ingredients you would see on your pasta. how awesome is that? If you haven’t had the chance to go try this place, i recommend you do it NOW! Put it on your top things to try in the summer time, go take your g/f or b/f here, go there for dinner…just goo! lol.

Alright alright…still not budging? I’ll let the photos do the justice. ;)

If this is your first time, make sure you get an order of garlic fries! Simply bliss. Also the Crepe Carbonara, which is my favorite dish there!
After La Creperie… We decided to take the extra mile like fatasses, and finished off our day with some yogurtland. How enticing does that look? really though?!
Then we walked around 2nd street a little bit to burn off some of the food we just ate =P. While walking around we came across this awesome colored wall. It’s a good thing i had my camera on hand. I had J.cast and Tim be my models and just started shooting all the randomness that was going on. Talk about good food and just having a goodtime with the boys. Sucessful day!

Don’t forget to check out my friend, J.cast new facebook music page! If you’re not familiar with his music, you should definitely check him out. http://www.facebook.com/JeffCastilloMusic

This weekend i met up with Chris and Alicia in Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach weather has never failed on me until today. Right when we got there, there was horrible fog and overcast. I felt bad considering that these two drove all the way from Moreno Valley to get to this shoot location. We were already talking about setting up another date. Then i just suggested we just go down to the sand area to take a couple pictures anyway while we were all the way down there to make it worth the drive. Well well….it’s a good thing we did because the fog ended up clearing up and the sun slowly made it’s way out. See what happens when you’re patient? You get perfect weather =)

If this were a wedding, you cannont simply say, “Hey let’s just do the wedding shots another day.” “We” as photographers always try to make the most of a shoot regardless how difficult the situation of lighting might be. If you cannot find a way to light up a situation by natural lighting, positioning, or artificial flashes, then you shouldn’t be paid to shoot. :P Yes, this is something that every photographer faces with once in awhile, and some how we deal with it, and deliver the photos :)

Well, congrats to Chris and Alicia on their baby girl, Ellie. I wish you both a safe and healthy baby girl. Stay tuned for the baby photo session. ;)
